It’s only up to Evangelos Marinakis – Nottingham Forest player ready, club willing

Jota Silva’s future is now in the hands of Evangelos Marinakis. According to A BOLA, Sporting and Nottingham Forest resumed talks in recent days over this neverending story, but the final word is set come from the Greek billionaire who owns the Premier League club.

Sporting want a low-cost deal, and Rui Borges is pushing hard for the forward, who he knows well from their time together at Vitória Guimarães.

But first, the Lions need to know what kind of arrangement Marinakis is willing to accept. The Forest owner, known for being hands-on (and a little unpredictable), has yet to greenlight the terms.

As we covered earlier, the player is said to be excited about joining Sporting and has already spoken with Borges about the manager’s plans. The story added that he knows the system (the 4-2-3-1 used last season at Guimarães) and is reportedly even willing to lower his wages to make the move happen. Still, out of respect for Forest, he won’t force an exit.

Jota Silva was called up twice by Roberto Martínez earlier this year but has since slipped out of contention, mainly due to his limited minutes at Forest. A regular role at Sporting could change that, with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, as we also told earlier in the window.

Interestingly, Sporting’s director of football might play a key role in pushing the deal through. He’s said to have a strong relationship with Marinakis – the same connection that reportedly led to the Greek investor backing Rio Ave years ago.

For now, Jota Silva is waiting. But if all sides stay aligned, this deal should still get done before the window slams shut.
