Cole Palmer Club World Cup shirt sells for over £27,000 at auction

After Chelsea triumphed over PSG in the Club World Cup last month, a match-issued Cole Palmer shirt has sold for £27,636 on football auction site MatchWornShirt.

The England attacker scored twice in the first half, helping the Blues secure the first-ever Club World Cup trophy in this format.

João Pedro added a third before half-time, which was enough to help Chelsea secure victory over the European Champions.

It was a successful tournament for Chelsea, who had to overcome Benfica, Palmeiras and Fluminese in their route to the final, perhaps an easier run than their French opponents, who overcame Inter Miami, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The victory puts the Blues in a good position for this Premier League season, as they will be encouraged after beating the winners of the Champions League.

Following the trophy lift, which awkwardly involved President Donald Trump, match-issued shirts were put up for auction on MatchWornShirt.

MatchWornShirt partners with football clubs to put match-worn and signed shirts in the hands of fans via their online auction platform.

The shirts are collected in the dressing room after the game, and are signed by the players before being authenticated in their offices.

The auction for the shirts gained a lot of interest across the whole of the Chelsea side, with goalscorer João Pedro's shirt selling for £13,119. Additionally, Reece James' shirt sold for £8,734 while Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández's shirt sold for £4,407.
