Man City fans are eager to see if the England star is back to his 2023/24 levels, and having been denied that last week against Wolves due to a fitness issue, Guardiola has told the press on Friday that Foden and Rodri are available for selection for the Tottenham match.

“Rodri and Phil [Foden] last game they were out, for just the reason why, being a lack of training and rhythm.

“They did not travel to Palermo; they were not ready for 90 minutes against Wolves, but they are ready for tomorrow.”

When asked who is out of the Spurs clash, Guardiola went on to say: “Kovacic, Joško [Gvardiol], Savio, they are the only ones unavailable. They are the only ones that are out.”

Ederson was also missing for the trip to Wolves last weekend, and with Galatasaray pursuing the Manchester City star, Guardiola revealed when he will decide on who will start in goal against Tottenham.

Will Ederson or James Trafford start vs Tottenham

Guardiola made it clear before the 2025/26 campaign began that Ederson was his number one for the season, and according to Manchester Evening News, the Brazilian is expected to start between the sticks against Tottenham.

When asked who would start in goal against Thomas Frank’s team during his press conference on Friday, Guardiola said: “We will decide tonight, after dinner.

“I’m happy. The new players always bring new energy…. James brings his youth and desire to play for the club where he was born.”

James Trafford impressed at Wolves on the opening weekend of the season; therefore, there is no need to take the 22-year-old out of the starting 11.

With speculation surrounding Ederson’s future, starting the Brazilian would be a risk that is not worth taking, but Guardiola does have a clearer picture of where the 32-year-old’s future lies, which he will definitely take into account.
