The Dallas Cowboys find themselves in an increasingly complicated standoff with star linebacker Micah Parsons just weeks before the regular season opener.
Parsons has scrubbed his social media presence of all team references as contract negotiations remain at an impasse.
The situation escalated when Parsons formally requested a trade on August 1st after extension talks stalled.
Owner Jerry Jones initially dismissed the move as routine posturing, telling fans not to worry about losing their defensive centerpiece.
Recent developments suggest the relationship has soured further. NFL insider Jordan Schultz offered a blunt assessment of how Jones has managed the contract discussions.
“The Cowboys’ situation with Micah Parsons isn’t hard to understand. Parsons pays an agent to handle his contract. Jerry Jones doesn’t want to talk to the agent. Parsons has said: ‘Talk to my agent.’ Jerry still won’t do it. Just childish behavior,” Schultz shared on X.

Head coach Brian Schottenheimer expects Parsons to suit up for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles despite his absence from training camp.
That optimism seems misplaced given Parsons’ recent social media activity.
Thursday evening brought the most telling signs yet. Parsons replaced his profile picture with a Bible verse and even updated his team affiliation to read “to be determined.”
The timing was notable, coming just hours after Jones spoke with Michael Irvin about the linebacker’s future.
Jones has publicly stated his willingness to make Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. His representatives rejected that offer.
Earlier this month, Jones claimed the Cowboys were in “good shape” regarding an extension, but no progress has emerged since those comments.
The clock continues ticking toward a potentially messy resolution.
