A Champions League winner with Liverpool is set to rip up his contract after being cast to the reserves.

Divock Origi left Liverpool a hero in 2022, with the striker signing for Italian giants AC Milan. However, his last appearance for the Rossoneri came way back in 2023 and he has since been cast into the reserves after reportedly refusing to play for their youth team.

According to Italian outlet, La Gazzetta dello Sport, Origi and Milan will soon terminate his deal, despite the Belgian having 12 months left on his contract. Origi is set to earn half his annual salary in severance pay.

The former Anfield fan favourite has been training alone with a fitness coach away from the club's Milanello training ground.

Milan had high hopes for the striker when he first touched down on the Italian peninsula with Rossoneri legend and former director Paolo Maldini claiming he could be a "great footballer".

Their trust in him also saw Origi brought in as the second-highest earner at the club, behind Portuguese megastar Rafael Leao.

However, Maldini has since left the club and Origi has been frozen out of the side. The ex-Liverpool forward is said to be keen on a footballing comeback, but his next destination is yet unclear.

The Ostend-born star netted 41 times in 175 appearances for Liverpool, and his biggest haul for one season is 11 goals.
