'It's just brutal': Gary Lineker tries to show Alan Shearer the funny side of Newcastle…

**I promise you, we're trying to reduce the amount of Alexander Isak content, but it's literally all anybody is talking about regarding Newcastle United right now.**

The Rest Is Football podcast lads have done a show looking forward to Newcastle United and Liverpool on Monday night, and of course, given that Isak is trying to force a move from Newcastle to Liverpool, that's been the main topic of conversation.

Alan Shearer is getting some stick from his co-host, Gary Lineker, who can't seem to resist poking the bear.

Both hosts agreed that they don't expect Alexander Isak to be anywhere near St James' Park on Monday night, and we think that's a pretty safe assumption.

Gary Lineker joked about Newcastle taking Hugo Ekitike as part of the Alexander Isak deal

Lineker even suggested that Newcastle should ask for Hugo Ekitike as part of the deal that takes Isak to Anfield.

> "Why don't you do a swap deal, for \[Hugo\] Ekitike? Just to stir things up a bit. Sorry, but you've got to try to see the funny side of these things, especially for fans, and you are a fan of Newcastle. I mean, it's just brutal."

Alan Shearer laughed at the suggestion but didn't respond.

If Liverpool offered Hugo Ekitike in a player plus cash deal for Alexander Isak would you take it?

It's a wild theory, but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility

Imagine if that's what ended up happening, though. What a wild conclusion that would be to the whole affair. Eddie Howe spoke highly of Ekitike in his press conference on Friday morning.

The Newcastle gaffer admitted to being a big fan of the forward and listed off his abilities of being good in the air and his ability to score goals with both feet, among others. He's acutely aware of the dangers Ekitike will pose on Monday night.

We're sure that Howe would take the Frenchman at St James' Park, but how realistic a swap deal involving Ekitike so soon after arriving at Anfield would be, we're not so sure. At this point, though, we can't rule anything out.
