Rasmus Hojlund has accepted that his time with Old Trafford has come to an end. He is now set to leave before the transfer window closes.
Hojlund set for Old Trafford exit
Rasmus Hojlund has fallen down the pecking order after Manchester United after the £73.7m signing of Benjamin Sesko. With limited opportunities under Ruben Amorim, the player has decided it’s time to move on.
Reports suggest he has already played his last game for United, and based on some conversations I have had his thinking is that going back to Italy is his best chance to get back to his best. Hojlund signed for United from Atalanta last year for £72m. The striker proved he can trouble defenders in Serie A. So, a switch back seems the ideal step for his career.
AC Milan have expressed interest as well. But, Napoli appears to have convinced him with promises of a long-term role at the club.
Future beyond Man Utd
Hojlund wants more than a loan deal. He wants a long-term project where he can play a lot. Sources claim that his agents have been urging him to look at all offers and Italy seems to be his preferred destination at the moment.
The Red Devils are ready to agree on his permanent exit to free up funds. Head coach Amorim made the decision to leave Hojlund out of the PL opener against Arsenal. That has made it clear he will not feature in future plans at Old Trafford.
After initially hoping to fight for his place, Hojlund has made a U-turn. He is now preparing to take the next step in his career, leaving Man Utd behind.
Author’s Opinion
Hojlund’s move makes sense for both him and United. He gets regular playing time, and the club frees up resources. Italy feels like the perfect stage for him to bounce back.
