Manchester United are reportedly close to agreeing personal terms with Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammers. According to reports, Ruben Amorim's side are working on a deal to sign the Royal Antwerp shot-stopper in their latest summer move.

According to reports, United are expecting more clubs to track the player from the likes of France and Italy. The goalkeeping position has come under scrutiny at Old Trafford in recent years, none more so than during the Portuguese's tenure in Manchester.

Altay Bayindir come underfire after deputising for Andre Onana in their defeat to Arsenal on the opening day of the Premier League season.

Fabrizio Romano has tweeted that United are working on a deal to sign the 23-year-old shot-stopper.

"Understand Manchester United are still working on deal to sign Senne Lammens, talks underway," he said.

"Personal terms are almost agreed and Man United are in active talks for the Belgian goalkeeper.

"#MUFC try to anticipate more clubs from France and Italy, also based on exits."

Lammers made his debut for Club Brugge in the Belgian top-flight aged 19 before he made his move to Royal Antwerp in 2023.

There is no mention of what role the goalkeeper would have, should he make the move to the Premier League with United currently having Onana, Bayindir and Tom Heaton at his disposal.

The news comes after the MEN reported that Amorim is considering recalling the Cameroon international for their upcoming game against Fulham.

Onana had missed the opener against the Gunners after a hamstring injury restricted his involvement during pre-season and had just three training sessions before the North London club's visit.

The goalkeeper was deemed undercooked but Bayindir has come in for criticism for his role in the solitary goal from Riccardo Calafiori.

Amorim issued a blunt response to the suggestion that Heaton should start ahead of the Turkey goalkeeper against Arsenal.

"Why? He (Bayindir) suffered a goal like this where?" Amorim responded.

"Without VAR. With VAR (at Tottenham), is a foul and then what happened in the next game?

"At Arsenal (in the FA Cup third round): who saved the penalty? Who saved the game, all the game? No, no, no, before the penalty.

"You don’t remember the game? I remember the game. Altay was unbelievable in that game. I consider everything to put one or the other and I choose Altay."
