Liverpool are now firmly in the race to sign Real Madrid forward Rodrygo, according to journalist Jorge Nicola.
Speaking on his YouTube channel (quotes via National World), Nicola said the Reds have “entered the fray” pretty recently as they look to strengthen their options on the left flank:
“Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker is heading to the Premier League. The question is whether he will play for Liverpool or Manchester City.”

“Guardiola has been trying for a long time to sign Rodrygo, but Liverpool have entered the fray in recent days – willing to make him the replacement for Luis Diaz.”
Liverpool have less competition to worry about
Arsenal’s decision to pay an initial £60m for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze means they have all but left the race to snap up Rodrgyo this summer.
As Nicola points out, it seems it will be a straight fight between Arne Slot’s side and Manchester City if the 24-year-old does decide to leave Real before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
Rodrygo’s asking price could be a lot lower than expected
Most reports have suggested that the winger’s price is between €90m (£78m) and €100m (£86m), but BBC journalist Guillem Balague has claimed that there is a chance he could be available for a much lower price.
Posting on his X account earlier this week, Balague mentioned that Real “would accept less” than the aforementioned figures. He believes an offer between €60m (£52m) and €70m (£60.6m) could be enough.
It remains to be seen whether those numbers are accurate, but Rodrgygo’s future does appear to be in the balance. He has still not asked to leave the Bernabeu, but after being an unused substitute in Real’s first league game, he will surely be contemplating a transfer.
