Everton have contacted Villarreal about striker Etta Eyong, although he is currently not pushing for a departure.
That’s [according to El Chiringuito](https://x.com/elchiringuitotv/status/1958886624882040839), who report that Everton are in contact with Villarreal about the striker.
According to their information the 21-year-old wants to stay at the Spanish club but if they tell him he won’t be playing this season, he wouldn’t mind moving to the Premier League.
He made 35 appearances in all competitions last season but only four in La Liga, totalling 33 minutes. 30 of his appearances were in the Primera Federación – Grupo II, in which he managed 19 goals and six assists.
He was very much behind Thierno Barry in the pecking order at the club but his move to Everton has potentially opened a gap this season. Indeed, he started and played 90 minutes in 2-0 win over Real Oviedo last week, bagging a goal in that game as he started alongside Gerard Moreno.
That suggested he is in Villarreal’s plans and manager Marcelino García Toral was very much sat on the fence when asked about a transfer at his press conference. He was, though, full of praise for the Cameroonian.
_“Today, he has 90% chance of playing next Sunday against the Girona,”_ [El Desmarque](https://www.eldesmarque.com/futbol/villarreal-cf/20250822/marcelino-garcia-toral-fichaje-renato-veiga-villarreal-situacion-etta-eyong_300739215.html) report him saying.
_“That is the reality of the situation. We are very pleased with their performance. He is a player who in preseason was certain and on day one he scored a very good goal that was 1-0 in a complicated execution._
_“He trains phenomenally, he’s an adorable guy and professional and, from all points of view, we try to be fair. We were tighter this week but last week he played, and we had other options for the team to choose from._
_“We chose Etta because we believed at the time, rightly or wrongly but with our analysis, it was the fairest and best option for the team.”_
