Everton are set to host their first competitive match at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday when they face Brighton.

After Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Leeds United on Monday, David Moyes will be keen to quickly pick up a victory against the Seagulls.

However, there will no doubt be added pressure on the hosts as fans turn up to see the first Premier League game at their new ground.

While Everton are predicted to have a smooth transition into the Hill Dickinson Stadium, they are no doubt going to have to be at their best if they are to overcome Brighton.

Now, a grim statistic has emerged which Moyes will have to overcome if the Toffees are to pick up all three points on Sunday.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Brighton are unbeaten in their last four visits to Everton

The Seagulls have proved to be a bit of a bogey team for the Toffees in recent years, with Everton only beating Brighton in two of their last seven matches.

While Moyes did guide Everton to a 1-0 victory over Brighton in January, it is still a worrying trend.

However, perhaps even more concerning is the Seagulls’ away record against the Toffees.

Brighton are unbeaten in their last four away trips to Everton, winning three. Their last victory at Goodison Park came in 2020, in a 4-2 win.

Everton’s overall record vs Brighton

Wins 12

Draws 8

Losses 7

Everton have traditionally had a good record against Brighton

Therefore, if the Toffees are to get off to a winning start at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Moyes must put an end to this trend.

Everton cannot get off to a bad start at their new ground, or it could spell disaster for the Toffees going forward.

Whereas a victory will give the fans and players confidence that moving stadiums was the right decision and would put the Merseyside club on track to make the ground a fortress.

Everton may suffer in opening months of the campaign

Everton may struggle to pick up results at the start of the 2025/26 campaign.

Without Goodison Park to fall back on, the Toffees could be at a major disadvantage compared to the rest of the league.

Therefore, the Everton fanbase may have to be patient with Moyes throughout the first few months if results dip.

However, if the Toffees can end August with two Premier League victories, they will be in a superb position.
