Graham Potter has had a difficult start to life as West Ham head coach.

Potter has been in charge of West Ham since January but has failed to truly make a positive impression at the London Stadium.

The disappointment surrounding the 50-year-old has taken a step up in the past week after West Ham’s 3-0 opening day Premier League defeat against Sunderland.

Reports of a dressing room incident at the Stadium of Light haven’t helped matters, especially with a clash against Chelsea coming up.

Ahead of a home clash against the Blues, a stat has emerged which reflects badly on Potter and could ultimately result in his sacking.

Graham Potter has been dreadful for West Ham

When Potter was named as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement at the London Stadium, there were high hopes for success in claret and blue, given his previous record.

Despite struggling at Stamford Bridge, there is no getting away from how positive the Englishman’s spell was at Brighton, something which gave fans high expectations in E20.

The ex-Swansea City boss has failed to replicate that success, with a lack of signings having a telling impact on his tenure to this point.

This was on show against Sunderland, with the lack of dynamism in the midfield representing a huge concern for the Irons.

That doesn’t take away from the fact that Potter has failed in his mission as the Hammers’ boss, something which is proven by the stats.

The Englishman has the lowest points per game record of any West Ham manager, registering an average of just one point across his opening 20 games.

West Ham manager points per game record:

Graham Potter – 1.00

Gianfranco Zola – 1.11

Julen Lopetegui – 1.18

Avram Grant – 1.21

Glenn Roeder – 1.23

This sees the Englishman rank lower than both Gianfranco Zola and Lopetegui, whose records come in at 1.11 and 1.18 ppg, respectively.

With this stat in mind, it is more than a fair assessment to describe Potter as the worst manager in the history of the Irons, at this stage of his career.

GrahamPotter has to face the sack soon

David Sullivan is far from the most popular man in E20 right now, but he could make a decision in the coming weeks that supporters will get behind.

There is really no reason to be positive right now when it comes to the claret and blue outfit after months of underachievement and a lack of spending.

Although the latter point could be blamed for the form of the team, there is still enough quality in the side to do better than it is right now.

Since coming in, Potter has struggled to register enough points to edge towards mid-table and could now be scuppered by the successes of the newly promoted side.

If the shocking form continues in the coming weeks, there will be no other choice but to sack the 50-year-old and bring someone else in.
