Manager says player in“unfortunate situation”after Manchester United exit–Concern clearly growing

Christian Eriksen is in an “unfortunate situation” given he hasn’t managed to find a new club since his Manchester United exit, and that sentiment comes from Denmark manager Brian Riemer.

Since his exit from Manchester United, which officially happened at the end of June but in practise was weeks earlier, it is still unclear where Eriksen will be playing this season.

[Ekstra Bladet](https://ekstrabladet.dk/) have been speaking to Riemer about his plans for the national team in the coming months, and his concerns over Eriksen were perhaps the strongest issues shared.

Riemer is quoted as saying: _“It is an unfortunate situation that Christian has ended up in._

_But it is clear that it is no secret that the fact that he has not played and has missed the start, and is now without a club less than two weeks before the meeting (next national team gathering), is a big challenge._

_“I would be a complete idiot if I said it wasn’t a problem. Of course it’s a big challenge on all fronts.”_

Of course, it will be difficult for Riemer to justify picking Eriksen if the midfielder is without a club. Now 33-years-of-age, Eriksen has been a regular when fit, throughout his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, Brentford and Manchester United.

Denmark have crucial games to win in September against Scotland and Greece to push for qualification for the next World Cup.

Regarding Rasmus Højlund, the manager believes if the striker had to face losing his place at Manchester United then it may as well happen now when he’s able to move on.
