Bears' Caleb Williams Slammed by 3-Time Super Bowl Champion

The Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams are hopeful of making a big jump during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After another year of disappointment in 2024, there is optimism about the Bears potentially being a playoff contender.

Williams will play a huge role in Chicago's chances of making that jump.

Throughout the offseason, a lot of concerning storylines have come out about Williams. Even during training camp, some videos have emerged that have given fans reason to think that he hasn't developed well.

While there has been some concern, Williams' first preseason game last week was a massive success. Against the Buffalo Bills, Williams completed six of his 10 pass attempts for 107 yards, a touchdown, and no interceptions.

During the NFL offseason, the Bears went out and improved the offensive line. Last year, Williams was sacked 68 times. To help fix the problem, Chicago traded for both Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and signed center Drew Dalman in free agency.

Adding to the offensive line is one step towards fixing the problem, but a three-time Super Bowl champion has spoken out and revealed that he believes Williams was a huge part of the sack problem last season as well.

Mark Schlereth made an appearance on 670 The Score and revealed his opinion on the matter.

"Most of the sacks come from, like Caleb Williams taking 68 last year, when all of a sudden you're slow through your progression, and you pull the ball and you try to escape out the back of the pocket," Schlereth said. "Then a defensive end that runs 4.4 runs you down. Those are the problems with offense in today's game, and we'll see if Ben Johnson can clear that stuff."

He makes a good point. Williams does need to do a better job of not taking sacks. If need be, he should look to throw the football away more often.

At 23 years old, there is no question that Williams possesses the talent and potential to be an NFL superstar. He simply needs to clean up certain aspects of his game.

Hopefully, Ben Johnson is able to make some changes and fix the sack issue. Having him as the team's new head coach will be extremely beneficial for Williams and it will be interesting to see what the new-look offense can do in 2025.
