Packers' Matt LaFleur Drops Truth Bomb on WR Trade Rumors

The Green Bay Packers have been one of the teams talked about a lot in the NFL rumor mill. With the wide receiver room loaded with talent, they have been viewed as a team who could supply a team who needs help in that department.

Romeo Doubs is a popular name that has come up in trade rumors of late. He is heading into the final year of his contract with the Packers, which could make that option more appealing.

Despite the rumors that have surrounded Doubs, it doesn't sound like Green Bay is open to dealing the 25-year-old wideout.

Matt LaFleur, the team's head coach, spoke out strongly about the rumors. He made it incredibly clear that Doubs is not going anywhere.

"I'd be very shocked if he was ever going anywhere," LaFleur said. "No, that will not happen."

Doubs is clearly still a big part of LaFleur's plans on the offensive side of the football.

Looking at the depth chart, Doubs could actually end up being the Packers' No. 1 wide receiver. Alongside him, Green Bay has Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, and Savion Williams as their top options. Christian Watson is on that list as well, but is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered last year.

Originally drafted with the No. 132 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Doubs has shown flashes of major potential. He needs to work on consistency, but there is no doubting that he has the talent to be a top-tier receiver.

Throughout the 43 games he has played over the last three years with the Packers, Doubs has racked up 147 receptions for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. He has also been able to develop a great chemistry with franchise quarterback Jordan Love.

Finally, the rumors surrounding Doubs can be put to rest. LaFleur's comments make it very clear that Green Bay isn't even considering the option.

Expect to see the Packers make some kind of move at wide receiver. Mecole Hardman seems to be the wideout most on the roster bubble at this point. Doubs, however, will be in Green Bay this season barring a massive change in team direction.
