The latest transfer news for Aston Villa and Wolves ahead of this weekend’s Premier League action.

The transfer window is now approaching its final stretch and Premier League clubs are looking to sign off their last remaining deals. It’s been a busy and entertaining summer, with twists and turns undoubtedly still to come before the deadline.

Both Aston Villa and Wolves have deals still to address, with a competitive season in England’s top flight laid out ahead of them. Villa were able to come away with a point against Newcastle United in their opening clash, despite going a man down after Ezri Konsa’s red card. Unai Emery’s side are up against Brentford next.

Wolves had a tough start to their campaign after Manchester City handed them a 4-0 defeat at home. They will be looking to put their opening defeat behind them with a more positive display against Bournemouth this weekend. Ahead of the weekend’s Premier League action, we’ve taken a closer look at the latest headlines on the rumour mill.

Wolves make ‘impossible to refuse’ offer for defender

Wolves are working on bolstering their defence and have been linked with the quick-moving transfer link that is Ladislav Krejčí of Girona. It was reported earlier this week that the club were looking to bring the centre-back to Molineux and are willing to pay the €30 million (£26m) asking price.

Journalist Nil Solà followed up with the news that Wolves had entered the ‘key hours’ to finalise Krejčí’s transfer, backing up the £26 million offer claim. He wrote on X that Girona ‘will accept’ the offer from the West Midlands, while the player has already agreed personal terms with Wolves.

Now, a fresh update from Spain has dropped. Friday’s edition of Marca, relayed via Sport Witness, report that Wolves’ offer to both Girona and Krejčí are ‘impossible to refuse’ and the Czechia international is expected to become a Wolves player this window.

Aston Villa handed boost as target rejects Saudi Arabia

Aston Villa have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Jaydee Canvot this week. The Toulouse defender signed a contract with the senior team this January and he’s already being linked with an exit. Saudi Arabia clubs have been targeting Ligue 1 players recently, with Canvot among those attracting interest. However, despite tabling a significant offer to bring the 19-year-old over, an unnamed club has been knocked back.

According to Footmercato, a Saudi club has made a ‘great offer’ in attempt to sign Canvot but the centre-back has rejected their approach. Instead, the teen wants to ‘prioritise an interesting project’, meaning Aston Villa are still in the race for his signature and still have the chance to agree a deal before the window closes.

Canvot has risen through the youth ranks with Toulouse, who finished tenth in Ligue 1 last season. The France U19 international has established himself as a starting regular for the club in recent months and has shown off his versatility by playing at both centre-back and in the defensive midfield role.
