The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in free-agent Malik Beasley, who recently cleared a federal gambling investigation and had a standout 2024–25 season with Detroit.
The New York Knicks could be in the mix for Malik Beasley, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.
"New York has been mentioned as a potential landing spot for Malik Beasley after ESPN reported Friday that Beasley is no longer the target of a federal gambling investigation," Fischer wrote on Substack.
The Knicks reportedly remained interested in Beasley after facing him in the first round of the playoffs in May.
The federal investigation, which began just as free agency started, previously derailed a planned three-year, $42 million deal with the Detroit Pistons. With the probe now concluded, Beasley emerges as a late-summer free agent.
The 28-year-old had a standout 2024–25 season with Detroit, playing all 82 games and averaging 16.3 points per contest.
He made 319 three-pointers—the most in Pistons history and second-most in the NBA behind Anthony Edwards—and led the league in catch-and-shoot threes with 248, the highest single-season total since the stat was first tracked in 2013–14.
Beasley previously served a 12-game suspension in 2021 following a felony guilty plea in Minnesota, but he has since rebuilt his reputation on the court and established himself as one of the NBA's deadliest perimeter shooters.
