'World-class' star’s agents jet into UK for ‘blockbuster’ Liverpool transfer talks - report

Real Madrid star Rodrygo's agents have jetted into the UK to hold talks with Liverpool about a blockbuster summer transfer, according to Football Insider.

The Reds have had a sensational summer transfer window with all of Giorgio Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerekz, Giovanni Leoni, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike joining, but the forward area is still short on options following the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, plus the tragic passing of Diogo Jota.

A move for Alexander Isak has been mooted for much of the window, with the Newcastle striker desperate to join, but with the Magpies not willing to sell, Anfield chiefs are looking at other options too including Rodrygo.

Rodrygo, who has been described as 'world-class', has become a peripheral figure in the Spanish capital this summer since Xabi Alonso came in as the new manager, replacing Carlo Ancelotti.

The Spanish outfit are understood to be open to offers for the 24-year-old, and the winger himself is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League should he depart the Bernabeu before the September 1st deadline.

Now it has emerged that the player's representatives have jetted into the UK in order to hold 'blockbuster' transfer talks with interested clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City.

Rodrygo is seen as an attacking addition should the Reds fail to bring in their top target Isak, who took further steps to push through a move to Anfield this summer by releasing a public statement this week.

However, Newcastle responded immediately and all but ruled out a sale, despite the fact Liverpool are prepared to pay a British-record fee for the Sweden international striker.

Real Madrid are believed to want around £78m to sell Rodrygo this summer despite the fact he's not in their plans, and it remains to be seen if Anfield chiefs would be willing to go that high to add him to Slot's squad.
