3. S RJ Mickens
The Chargers defense will be paced by a trio of veteran safeties in 2025, a group that affects how the rest of the unit plays in front of them.
But the fourth (or maybe fifth?) safety on the Chargers roster will have to contribute on special teams while staying ready to help on defense.
Where does Mickens land in that group?
The recent sixth-round draft pick has flashed in both practices and games, even if he needs a little fine tuning in finishing plays for takeaways.
It will be interesting to see what the Chargers do in the secondary with Tony Jefferson and Mickens when the 53-man roster deadline arrives.
4. RB Raheim Sanders
With Najee Harris still on the Non-Football Injury List, Omarion Hampton has stepped into the role of RB1 for the Chargers.
Hassan Haskins then drew praise from Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh on Thursday for both his rushing ability and special teams skills.
But what about the third running back on the roster?
Jaret Patterson missed the past two weeks of practice while Kimani Vidal didn't practice for the final three days of camp.
That leaves Sanders and Nyheim Miller-Hines as the only healthy running backs on the roster.
Simply put: if Patterson and Vidal continue to work through something physically, Sanders could find himself on the 53-man roster with an impressive showing in Santa Clara.
