Nuggets' Nikola Jokic Had Hilarious 7-Word Message to Michael Porter Jr After Trade

The NBA offseason has been quite the rollercoaster. A few teams had major changes, while others just sat on their hands.

One of the few teams that did make major changes this offseason was the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets shook things up this offseason after yet another shortcoming in the playoffs last season.

The Nuggets possess the best player in the world in Nikola Jokic. They know better than anybody that they need to make as many changes as possible to give Jokic the best chance to compete for a title. This offseason, they did just that, but it came with a price.

Denver traded away their champion forward and sharpshooter, Michael Porter Jr., and an unprotected 2032 first-round pick to the Brooklyn Nets for forward Cameron Johnson. It was a move the Nuggets deemed necessary and one that should get them to compete in the loaded Western Conference.

Nonetheless, it was not easy to say goodbye to their champion forward. However, Jokic always knows how to lighten the mood, and he did just that when he said goodbye to Porter.

In a recent podcast appearance, Porter shared this hilarious story of Jokic. The three-time MVP sent him a text saying, "Make sure you wear a condom out there."

Porter spent the first six years of his career in the Mile High City. He was an integral piece for the Nuggets throughout his entire tenure and played a key role in the 2022-23 season to lead Denver to their first title in franchise history.

In his six seasons, Porter was instrumental, recording 16.2 points per game, 6.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.6 blocks while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Now, Porter will head to the East Coast, where he will be, at worst, the second-best player on the lowly Nets. There, Porter will have plenty of opportunities to shine and showcase his full offensive ability.

In Denver, he was used more as a spot-up shooter, who can occasionally create for himself. However, with likely full offensive reign in Brooklyn, don't be surprised if Porter takes his offensive game to the next level.

As for the Nuggets, they are ready to take the NBA by storm once again with the best player in the world leading them.
