Rookie QB Milroe to play all of Seahawks' preseason finale

The Seattle Seahawks are set to get an extended look at rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe in their preseason finale.

Seattle Seahawks’ joint practice with Packers features several skirmishes

Head coach Mike Macdonald said Milroe will start and play all of the team’s final preseason game against the Green Bay Packers, Seahawks.com senior reporter John Boyle shared on social media Thursday.

The news came after the team held a joint practice with the Packers in Green Bay, Wisc.

A third-round pick in this year’s draft, Milroe appears to be locked in as Seattle’s third quarterback heading into the season, behind starter Sam Darnold and backup Drew Lock. Darnold played one drive during last week’s 33-16 preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, and Lock received the bulk of the first-half reps in the first two preseason contests.

Milroe played all but one series during the second halves of each of the Seahawks’ first two preseason games. The former Alabama star completed 9 of 15 passes (60%) for 107 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, and added 50 yards on eight carries.

The Seahawks also revealed a special “Tush Push” package that featured Milroe under center last week.

Milroe had a decorated college career at national powerhouse Alabama, finishing sixth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2023. He completed 426 of 623 passes (64.3%) for 6,016 yards, 45 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, adding 1,577 yards and 33 TDs rushing during his four years with the Crimson Tide.

The Seahawks close the preseason against the Packers at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Radio coverage begins on Seattle Sports 710 AM, KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM and the Seattle Sports app starting at 11 a.m. with the pregame show.
