Matt Law of The Daily Telegraph has hailed Chelsea for their management of Reece James’ injury issues and tipped them to excel with Wesley Fofana as well. Fofana and James have the potential to be two of the finest defenders on the planet, but their struggles with injuries raise doubts about their ability to reach the heights expected of them.
Speaking on the London is blue podcast, Law hailed the World Champions for their management of their captain recently, saying:
“They’ve managed Reece James brilliantly. Hopefully, the way they’ve managed Reece would give some encouragement that they’ve found a way of managing players with long-term injury issues. That might be helpful to Fofana.”
The Blues will hope they can continue managing their injury load smartly and maintain a core of players at the team that allows them to compete for the biggest titles in the world on a consistent basis.
Paul Merson believes Chelsea should have signed Eberechi Eze
Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson has shared his belief that Chelsea should have signed Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace. The English midfielder was initially tipped with a move to Tottenham Hotspur before Arsenal swooped in for his services in the eleventh hour.
Speaking in a recent column for Sky Sports, the former Premier League said:
“I cannot believe Chelsea didn’t go for Eberechi Eze. I really don’t know what I am missing. They buy winger after winger, but they need guile. They need more than Palmer. If you get Eze, you then have two players who can break teams down. They are predictable for me. They play with two quick wingers, with Palmer trying to feed them.”
The Blues remain set to perform a few final maneuvers before the transfer window slams shut. The London-based side is linked with moves for Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.
