What Evangelos Marinakis actually wants to happen at Nottingham Forest amid Nuno Espirito Santo …

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo came out in Friday’s press-conference and admitted that his relationship with Evangelos Marinakis is not good.

Nuno explained that he was very close with Marinakis last season, but that relationship has changed recently.

“I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season was very close,” the Portuguese head coach said

“This season, not so well. No, it’s not [good]. I don’t know exactly, but I’m being honest with you. I cannot say that is the same, because it’s not the same. The reason behind it, I don’t know.

“I always believe that dialogue and what you say or your opinion, is always valid, because my concern is the squad and the season that we have ahead of us, but our relations have changed.”

It has since emerged that Nuno’s relationship with Edu is fractured, which has left Marinakis with a big decision.

The rift at Nottingham Forest is Nuno-Edu. And it's a big one, described to me as broken/unfixable.

That, of course, has left Marinakis in an incredibly difficult position. It's not a good situation, I'm afraid. #NFFC

What resolution Evangelos Marinakis wants at Nottingham Forest

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that Nuno is likely to remain in post for the Crystal Palace game this weekend.

It had been reported that he could leave before Sunday’s game at Selhurst Park, however, Marinakis has other plans.

The Greek businessman actually wants ‘unity’, which suggests his preference is to keep Nuno and honour his contract.

Still major discussions to come but despite Marinakis’s anger he wants some kind of unity and no further distractions for a squad which he feels is strongest for decades

However, no final decision has been made, and there are still ‘major’ discussions to be held among Forest chiefs.

Evangelos Marinakis may need to pick between Nuno and Edu

Nuno and Edu’s relationship has been described as ‘untenable’, so Marinakis may be forced to pick one side.

Edu, however, may hold the advantage in the eyes of Marinakis, as he’s just joined from Arsenal in what the club deem to be a real coup.

Although, Nuno has recently signed a new bumper contract, which runs through until 2028, so it’d take a hefty compensation fee to move him on.

One way or another, this will have to be resolved within the next few days, otherwise, it could start to affect performances on the pitch.

After such a positive summer transfer window, it’s a real shame to have this cloud of uncertainty hanging over the City Ground.
