Chelsea cruised to their first win of the season as they thrashed West Ham 5-1 at the London Stadium.

A fantastic goal by Lucas Paqueta gave the hosts a shock lead on six minutes, but it didn’t take long for Chelsea to level through Joao Pedro and then edge ahead as Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez made it 3-1 at half-time.

Further goals in the second half by Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah made it a handsome win for the visitors in their second London derby in as many games.

Dom Smith was at the London Stadium to rate the Chelsea players’ performances…

Robert Sanchez 6

Could maybe have got closer to Paqueta’s early goal but made amends with a flying save midway through the second half, tipping the ball over the bar.

Trevoh Chalobah 7

Defended very well all game and got his reward by scoring the fifth with a close-range finish from a corner.

Tosin Adarabioyo 6

Did nothing wrong all game as Enzo Maresca brought him into the fold to play in the middle of what was effectively a back three.

Marc Cucurella 7

Could not be faulted as he was first to a number of loose balls and defended well, even assisting Chelsea’s first goal.

Malo Gusto 6

A decent enough display from the Frenchman who played largely as a wing-back.

Enzo Fernandez 8

What a performance from Chelsea’s No8. Scored a goal, produced excellent corner deliveries, and never stopped running.

Moises Caicedo 7

Got his goal and was a tireless engine at the base of Chelsea’s midfield as ever.

Pedro Neto 8

Energetic and exciting out wide, Neto scored his first goal of the season.

Estevao 7

Came into the starting line-up minutes before kick-off after Cole Palmer could not finish the warm-up. Took his chance and then some, assisting, almost scoring, and starring.

Joao Pedro 9

Scored once, assisted twice, and was Chelsea’s best player of a fantastic team performance.

Liam Delap 6

It was a night when other attackers took the limelight but Delap worked hard up front and did nothing wrong.

Subs:

Andrey Santos (Delap, 62’) 6

Worked hard in midfield and looked to carry the ball forward whenever he could.

Reece James (Gusto 69’) 6

Played one inch-perfect through-ball for Estevao once he came on.

Jorrel Hato (Cucurella, 69’) 6

Came on for his competitive debut for Chelsea and slotted in well at the back for his new club.

Wesley Fofana (Chalobah, 69’) 6

Big moment for the injury-plagued Frenchman, who made his first appearance for the club since March.

Jamie Gittens (Estevao, 77’) N/A

Not used: Jorgensen, Essugo, Acheampong, Slonina
