Mikel Arteta has described Leandro Trossard’s new Arsenal contract as “recognition” for his performances and suggested the Belgian forward will not be leaving the club this summer despite transfer interest.
Trossard, 30, signed an improved deal earlier this month that raised his wages while keeping the length of his contract unchanged until 2027. The Belgian has established himself as a reliable figure for Arsenal since his arrival from Brighton in January 2023, contributing consistently across the frontline.
“That situation has been resolved in a really great way and I think he deserves recognition, and we are very happy to have him,” Arteta said when asked about Trossard’s extension.

The deal comes amid reports linking Trossard with a move away, with Turkish side Fenerbahce among those said to be monitoring his situation. Arteta, however, hinted that the player’s future lies firmly at the Emirates.

“Well, it might be speculation,” he said. “The good players always have options to go. Leo was very clear from the beginning that he wanted to be here, the club was very clear they wanted Leo here, and I was very clear that I wanted him here. At the end, it’s a good outcome.”

Arsenal’s busy summer window looks set to continue, with a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze close to completion. The Gunners agreed a £60 million fee, plus £7.5m in add-ons, earlier this week, and the 26-year-old England international underwent his medical on Friday morning.
Eze, who had also attracted interest from Tottenham, was left out of Palace’s Conference League play-off win over Fredrikstad on Thursday as his move to North London advanced. Arsenal accelerated talks following the knee injury suffered by Kai Havertz in last weekend’s victory over Manchester United.
The signing of Eze would take Arsenal’s incoming business to seven players this summer, as Arteta continues to reshape his squad for the new Premier League campaign.
