Leeds United have done a very good job building their squad ahead of this season. The club reinforced almost every area of the squad, adding depth and quality.
And it paid off on the opening day, as some of the new signings shone in the win against Everton. Anton Stach and Gabriel Gudmundsson in particular stood out on Monday night. Despite Leeds dominating the game and creating a lot of chances, their poor finishing let them down.

It took a late penalty from Lukas Nmecha to seal all three points at Elland Road. The Whites are now set for an even tougher test, as they face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side at the Emirates on Saturday. Leeds’ task will be even more difficult with Ethan Ampadu ruled out due to injury.

Leeds United eye move for Brighton star

Daniel Farke asked for steel and solidity in the middle of the park, and thats why Leeds signed Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff this summer. The two provide dynamism and a box-to-box threat complementing Tanaka, Ampadu and Gruev’s strengths on the ball. But there is still a distinct lack of a playmaker, and Leeds have been chasing that all summer.
Now, it looks like the club have finally set their sights on a target. Graeme Bailey says a move for Facundo Buonanotte is ”one to watch” this week:
“Buonanotte is on Leeds’ radar they have liked him all summer.
“Leeds still want this creative playmaker or number 10 profile before the window closes.
“Buonanotte has been told by Brighton he can leave this summer. He has already seen a few deals fall through, too.
“Leeds are absolutely still at the table. It’s certainly one to keep an eye on as we approach the deadline.”
Club could end pursuit for Leicester playmaker
A move for the Argentine all but rules out a move for Bilal El Khannous. Leeds pursued the Leicestar star for most of the past few weeks, but look like they have dropped out of the race. Crystal Palace are in advanced talks to sign the 21-year old this summer.
But if all works out and Leeds get Buonanotte it would not be a bad signing for the team. The playmaker had five goals and two assists in a very poor Leicester City side who were relegated from the top flight last season.
