Derrick Harmon has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and will miss up to a month, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The Pittsburgh Steelers could opt to put him on injured reserve.
If they did that, Harmon would miss the first month of the season and could return after their Week 5 bye. However, it is unknown if Harmon would have to miss that long, and if he does, just how early he could return.
After the interception by Steelers cornerback James Pierre, Harmon hit the ground and walked over the sideline and went into the blue medical tent, according to the broadcast. He later walked onto the cart and was taken to the locker room.
Later on in the game, Harmon came out of the Steelers’ locker room in street clothes and walked over to the team bench under his own power.
Harmon missed some time in training camp before the team’s first preseason game, but he battled through it. In the preseason, Harmon has showcased great power and has proven to be a difference maker.
In Indianapolis, Harmon stood at 6-foot-4, weighing in at 313 pounds. Harmon ran a 4.95 40-yard dash with a 1.74 10-yard split, both great numbers for his size.
