Graham Potter looked every inch a broken man as he attempted to explain West Ham United's second sorry defeat inside the opening seven days of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
Having watched his team comfortably beaten by newly-promoted Sunderland in their opening fixture at the Stadium of Light last weekend, the Head Coach was at a complete loss to explain the capitulation Hammers fans witnessed at the London Olympic Stadium in the club's first home game of the season when appeariung in front of the TV cameras during his post-match interview.
And if his dithering paymasters were under any illusions that serious strengthening is required to patch up an ill-fitting squad before next week's transfer deadline, those doubts were firmly quashed as the Hammers were thrashed 5-1 at home by near neighbours Chelsea.
Although Lucas Paqueta gave West Ham an early lead with a 25-yeard scorcher, that was as good as it got for Potter's side as the visitors ran riot thereafter, scoring three before the half time interval and twice more afterwards to condemn the Irons to back-to-back defeats with which to start the season.
We'll have a full match report for you soon...
