Moises Caicedo marks landmark achievement with trademark performance for Chelsea

Chelsea got up and running in the Premier League with a 1-5 thrashing of West Ham at the London Stadium.

Goals from Joao Pedro, Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah ensured Blues overcame a very slow start to grab all three points.

But there was a celebration in order for one of Chelsea’s big-name players, which saw Caicedo achieve 100 appearances for the club.

There is something poetic about the fact Caicedo got this landmark achievement, in the very same ground he made his debut and people started writing him off already. Fast forward two years on, and he’s one of the Blues’ most important players as he played more than his part in a dominant Chelsea win.

In terms of his individual performance, it was just textbook Caicedo at London Stadium.

Defensively he was as assured as ever, winning 4 of his 6 ground duels, making 3 tackles and getting dribbled past 0 times throughout the game.

The Ecuadorian has been labelled as “limited on the ball” from some of his critics in the past, he made sure to continue to show that those criticisms are just a myth created from people that don’t watch him properly.

With a 92% pass accuracy, he helped dictate the tempo of the game in Chelsea’s favour numerous times.

Let’s not forget about him putting the icing on the cake with a very well taken goal, following some dreadful defending from West Ham.

Caicedo celebrated in-front of the Chelsea fans, and showed everyone just how much this landmark moment means to him.

He’s had plenty of his critics considering the transfer fee he arrived for, but funnily enough nobody is talking about the price tag when it comes to Moises anymore.

Instead he is getting more and more respect from the media as he should, there is still work to do though after we frustratingly saw Declan Rice and Ryan Gravenberch get in the PFA Team of the Year ahead of him.

But Chelsea fans don’t care, we know how good he is and as long as he keeps delivering major trophies to the club then that’s the main thing for the Blues supporters.

Chelsea’s next game is against Fulham next Saturday in an early kick-off, where Caicedo and the rest of the team will look to build on this dominant performance.
