The contract standoff between Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons and owner Jerry Jones has moved beyond typical holdout territory into public feuding.
Both sides have aired their frustrations through social media posts and pointed interview comments as the situation continues to escalate.
The latest chapter unfolded during Jerry Jones’ lengthy discussion with Stephen A. Smith.
When Smith called Parsons “the face of the franchise” and asked for Jones’ perspective on his star defender, the Cowboys owner made his position clear.
“I’m glad you recognize that, and we’ve got him for three years no matter what,” Jones said.

Parsons formally requested a trade earlier this month after stating he would not participate in private contract negotiations without his agent present.
The All-Pro pass rusher has maintained that stance with unwavering clarity since making the demand public.
Smith pressed Jones further about potentially considering a blockbuster trade package that could include another All-Pro player and multiple first-round picks.
Jones shut down any speculation about moving Parsons from Dallas.
The Cowboys owner called Parsons the team’s best player while emphasizing the security of his current contract situation.
Jones noted that Parsons will be suiting up for Dallas for many more games regardless of the ongoing tension.
Jones also made it apparent that he sees no need for Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, in future contract discussions.
The owner believed an agreement reached earlier in the offseason would have made Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
The public nature of this dispute continues to create an uncomfortable dynamic as both sides dig in on their respective positions heading into the regular season.
