Tennessee Titans host Minnesota Vikings in preseason finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Tennessee Titans suit up for their only home preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Friday night at Nissan Stadium.

Earlier in the week, Titans head coach Brian Callahan said starters, including rookie quarterback Cam Ward, will play a limited amount in the preseason finale against the Vikings.

That means Ward, Tennessee’s No. 1 overall draft pick, will play in all three of the Titans’ preseason games.

His two-game totals against Tampa Bay and Atlanta thus far include seven completions and 109 passing yards on 15 attempts.

Some starters will be sidelined for rest, rehabilitation, or injury precaution.

Beyond the starters, many depth-chart and back-up positions will be up for grabs in the coming days. Many players are looking to strengthen their case to make the 53-man roster with their performance Friday night before the cut deadline this coming Tuesday.

“You get to this point, there’s a lot of things that are pretty concrete and there’s a handful of spots that are up for competition,” Callahan said. “Especially when you’re talking about your depth spots and the swing tackle spot, the running back spot, the safety spots. There’s opportunity — that back end of the receiving room, that spot six and seven, those things are all being competed for, and I think that’s good and healthy and that’s how you build your depth.”

The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kick-off at Nissan Stadium.
