Chiefs set for final preseason tune-up against Bears

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for their final preseason showdown Friday night against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium, their only home preseason game this year. The game will air at 7:20 p.m. on KWCH.

Anticipation is high as starters are confirmed to play, though the exact amount of playing time will depend on their performance and how satisfied head coach Andy Reid is with their sharpness ahead of the regular season opener in Brazil.

Patrick Mahomes has seen limited action this preseason, with just one pass thrown – a 1-yard touchdown against the Cardinals two weeks ago. He sat out last week’s game, and the coaching staff is undoubtedly eager to see him on the field with his full complement of offensive weapons.

For the “fringe roster guys,” the final preseason game represents their last opportunity to make a strong impression and solidify their spot on the 53-man roster.

“Everybody can’t make the team. I tell them that on Day 1. ‘Just make our job hard – to get rid of them,’” said Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid.

The pressure is on for these players to perform at their peak. They’re also being advised to maintain their routine and avoid overdoing it in these final hours.

“Do your best to keep your routine, because I think it’s so easy to over-study, to take too many supplements on gameday, you know, down that line, anything – overload yourself and you’re going to explode,” said Chiefs Linebacker Leo Chenal.

The Chiefs will have two weeks to prepare before their next appearance on the field, which will be in Brazil for the highly anticipated regular season opener.
