The ongoing war of words between Draymond Green and the Houston Rockets just got another entry, and this time, it was "Mama Eason" catching strays. After recent comments from Tari Eason’s mother declaring “it’s war” with Draymond and the Warriors, the 4x All-Star wasted no time firing back on Threads.
“Somebody tell Mama Eason, she said it was war before they took the L,” wrote Draymond.“They gone come out playing hard as hell... in a regular season game.”
Green has been engaged in a brutal back-and-forth with Rockets players for a while now. It all dates back to their 2025 playoff series, when the Warriors bested the Rockets in the first round. It was a grueling seven-game slate, but just the beginning of the NBA's new budding rivalry.
Recently, Alperen Sengun reflected on the series and prompted some conversations when he complained about the double standard for foul calls. According to the Rockets center, Golden State was getting away with a lot of fouls in the series, even though they claim that it was the other way around.
Sengun came under fire for the comments, as fans called him a "sore loser" while pointing out his lack of credentials against 4x champions like Draymond Green and Stephen Curry. Of course, Green couldn't let this comment go, and he responded by pointing out who won the series.
Rockets forward Tari Eason, 24, didn't comment on the interaction, but his mother joined the fray by declaring "war" on Green and his iconic Warriors squad. She may have meant well, but the gesture will be one she comes to regret.
While Green needs no motivation to have an impact on the court, you can bet he'll use those words as fuel for their next matchup and into the playoffs, if they are matched up again. By reminding the Rockets of their loss, he's trying to teach some humility for a team that hasn't yet accomplished anything.
It remains to be seen if Eason or other Rockets players will add to the beef, but Draymond has the last word for now, and you can bet he's keeping score. Unless you've beaten Draymond when it matters, he won't stand for trash talk, and he'll demand respect.
Of course, this season, the Rockets have something extra to help them come out on top: Kevin Durant. With averages of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game last season, his presence changes everything for the Rockets, and as a former Warrior himself, he knows exactly how they think.
Sadly, we'll have to wait months before their next showdown on November 26, but that game will be very telling about how these new-look Rockets can hold up against their newest rivals. With Durant, the Rockets have certainly evened the playing field.
Ultimately, the real test will be in the playoffs, and Houston will have to make a deep run to validate their confidence and boldness. If they lose to the Warriors again, this "war" will be remembered as nothing more than a lopsided matchup, and Dray will surely have something to say about it.
If the Rockets secure victory, however, it will mark a new era in the West that will force Draymond to accept his team's decline. Only time will tell how this plays out, but the fact that we're seeing all of this before training camp shows us how much these squads have grown to dislike each other. At the very least, their games will be must-watch TV next season.
