Manchester United have been active in the transfer market this summer and Ruben Amorim's vision for the club is finally starting to take shape after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.

Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko have all arrived as first-team players at United from Wolves, Brentford and RB Leipzig respectively. Diego Leon has also came into Amorim's squad after his move from Paraguay was finalised.

However, after their worst season in 51 years, the Reds still could do with further recruits. Reports this week have indicated that a new goalkeeper could come in with Royal Antwerp's Senne Lammens the subject of advanced interest.

With United's forward line significantly bolstered, United are in a better position to seek success this season. However, some positions remain untouched and prove to be a problem.

With that in mind, MEN Sport takes a look at how an alternative transfer window may have transpired for United had things gone differently...

Signed

As mentioned above, United have been busy this summer and their attack shows that. However, it is only their attack that is proof of their activity and other positions remain lacking quality.

So many players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, enough to make a brand new team. Let's start with the forward line and in an alternative word, United would be lining-up differently.

Before Sesko arrived, the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap and Dusan Vlahovic were all linked. Different people had their preference but Osimhen, from the outside, looked the perfect fit.

Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen has joined Galatasaray on a permanent move

A consistent finisher who had constantly admitted his ambition to play in the Premier League, Osimhen would have been the powerful, efficient striker United had been lacking last season.

Behind him, is Mbeumo and Cunha. They are both exactly what United need. But in midfield, an alternative transfer window would have seen Ederson come in to be the dream partner to Bruno Fernandes.

United are yet to add a new face in the middle of the park but the Atalanta star’s arrival would ease the concerns over Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte that have emerged from the opening game of the season.

The final signing would be in goal, a position they are currently considering with Lammens. However, their failed attempt to lure Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa earlier in the window is a deal that made perfect sense.

With Osimhen eventually signing for Galatasaray in a £64.8m deal, reports suggesting Martinez was available for £40m and Ederson reportedly available for £51.6m - it would have required a £156.4m outlay to sign those three players.

That would likely have needed United to make significant sales, but several players have been available all summer...

Sold

Where do we begin with this? United have loaned Marcus Rashford out and lost Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof. Away from that, there has been no movement.

The 'bomb squad' of Tyrell Malacia, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all still at the club despite being available for transfer since the start of the window. Ideally, all four would have left at the start to help fund incomings. There are also the ongoing question marks over Rasmus Hojlund and Casemiro.

Exits for both would have handed Amorim more funds to spend elsewhere on other recruits. There's also the mention that had Martinez arrived to become United's new number one, Andre Onana would have likely have been sold - but the club will continue with the Cameroonian as their first-choice goalkeeper this season.
