Jurrien Timber: Arsenal full-back to miss final game of the ...
Arsenal are in action at the Emirates Stadium for the first time this season in the Premier League as they face Leeds United on matchday two of the Premier League at 4:30pm local time this afternoon.
The Gunners secured a hard-fought win over Manchester United in last weekend’s opening fixture in the English top flight, but they will look to put in an improved performance this time around.
Having said that, here is a look at their possible starting eleven against the Peacocks.
Goalkeeper – David Raya could retain his place in the starting eleven.
Defenders – Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba are expected to get the nod at the back once more with the duo firmly the go-to choice for Mikel Arteta in the heart of the backline. Last weekend’s match-winner Riccardo Calafiori may also continue to play at left back and the only change in the defence could see Ben White drop out, with £38 million star Jurrien Timber coming in.
Gyokeres to make home debut
Midfielders – The midfield did well in the last match against Manchester United and thus, there are unlikely to be any changes in the engine room. Martin Zubimendi might be employed in a deeper-lying position once more, whereas Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard could play in slightly advanced roles. As a result, Mikel Merino may be on the bench once more.
Forwards – Gabriel Martinelli could be preferred to Leandro Trossard on the left wing yet again, as Eberechi Eze’s debut might have to wait even if he is officially announced before the match. Bukayo Saka could play on the right flank.
Viktor Gyokeres is expected to make his home debut for Arsenal and lead the line. He has already bagged a goal at the Emirates Stadium in a friendly, and would look to repeat his exploits against Leeds.
Here is how the Gunners might look on paper.
