West Ham could be set to land their own version of Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

The Hammers have had a turbulent summer under Graham Potter, with a general lack of excitement surrounding the London Stadium right now.

This has seen only four signings come in, with new goalkeeper Mads Hermansen being the latest addition from Leicester City.

Now it appears the Londoners are set to change this, as they edge closer to adding to their side less than a week after West Ham’s 3-0 defeat to Sunderland on the opening day.

This could see a star come in who has learnt his trade throughout his time playing alongside Champions League winner Tchouameni.

West Ham edge closer to fifth summer signing

It is safe to say that the East London club are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements before the transfer window shuts on 1 September.

This comes after Guido Rodriguez and James Ward-Prowse struggled against Sunderland, largely due to their lack of dynamism.

As a result, fans have been left excited by the potential signing of Soungoutou Magassa from Monaco, with advanced talks underway ahead of a potential £17.3million move.

The versatile midfielder became a regular for the Ligue 1 side in the 2022/23 campaign after coming through the Monegasque academy.

As a result, Magassa has been able to learn from a number of top players, previously discussing his inspiration from Real Madrid ace Tchouameni and Chelsea pair Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile.

Speaking to Get French Football News about the trio in October 2023, he said: “Similarities? I’m not necessarily sure, but they are great players, and I was inspired by them.

“When they were here, I tried to learn from them on a daily basis, to see how they worked, how they were in matches, and I solicited advice from them.”

As a result, the 21-year-old has featured regularly alongside another man with Chelsea links, Denis Zakaria, who is now the captain of the Red and Whites.

The Switzerland international has spoken out with plenty of praise for the West Ham target, something which will likely wet the appetite of any member of the claret and blue faithful.

Speaking via the Monaco Tribune (December 2024), he said: “I have to say congratulations because he played an incredible match.

“He has performed well several times, so we are very happy for him and his development. We can see that he can bring a lot to this team.”

These sorts of comments can only be seen as a boost to Potter and Co., who look set to land themselves a huge talent and a potentially transfer window-defining deal.
