'He complains': Alisson says Liverpool have a player who 'works so hard' every day but barely gets picked

Liverpool fans will have to sit and watch this weekend as the Premier League season continues without their team.

The Reds kicked the action off last Friday with a rollercoaster match against Bournemouth, but have to wait until bank holiday Monday to play again.

In the meantime, the transfer window has taken centre-stage. Well, the transfer window and Federico Chiesa.

Chiesa’s Liverpool career finally feels like it could take off after the Italian scored a dramatic winner last week at Anfield.

His first Premier League goal may have taken almost a full year to arrive, but it was ultimately well worth the wait.

After a summer of speculation, it now looks likely that Chiesa will stay at Liverpool this season. And after hailing him during a sit-down interview this weekend, Alisson Becker seemingly could not be happier.

Alisson Becker delighted to see Federico Chiesa score

Chiesa was an incredibly popular goal scorer for Liverpool against Bournemouth. The crowd, his teammates and the No. 14 himself had all been waiting for that moment.

For Alisson, it must have been a relief having conceded twice to let the Cherries back into the game.

But speaking to Men In Blazers, the goalkeeper said he actually did not mind letting in the two goals as it allowed Chiesa to have his moment in front of the Kop.

“It means a lot for us when a player like him, who is not playing so often, who didn’t play as much as he wanted to play, is not in the best moment of his life, personally. When he comes in and scores that goal, the satisfaction that he shows us in his celebration shows a lot of his character, of his personality,” Alisson remarked.

“He’s a guy who works so hard here every day with us, he’s always trying to help. He complains sometimes, every Italian does that! But he’s not a guy who complains in a negative way, he complains to make things better for everyone, not only for himself.”

“I think it [the goal] shows that nothing is impossible if we can believe to the last second,” the Brazil international added. “We have the players who can change the game if necessary.

“I’m never happy that I concede but I told him seeing that you are the guy who scored the goal, I have no problem conceding the goals!”

Alisson happy to assist Salah

Alisson may have been delighted to see Chiesa score, but during his interview he also touched upon the on-field relationship he has with another Liverpool attacker: Mohamed Salah.

Alisson has set up Salah for three goals during his career with Reds, and when asked about the link-up between him and the Egyptian, Alisson says it is something the two players love to do when possible.

“With Mo the connection we have is from the years we spent together,” says the 32-year-old.

“I know his qualities, he knows my quality when we have the space to do that, and when he is running towards the goal I have to do my best to kick the ball and put him in a good position so he can control the ball and do what he does best which is scoring goals.

“But it’s something we really enjoy doing. When that happens I think you can see from the celebrations it’s something that we enjoy a lot.”
