Newcastle clearly want to sell Alexander Isak to Liverpool after latest transfer news emerges - opinion

Alexander Isak’s potential transfer to Liverpool has been the thing that’s dominated headlines over the last few weeks.

It’s clear that both the striker and Liverpool want the move to go through, but with less than 10 days left of the transfer window, the time for a deal to be struck is running out.

It’s also evident that if Arne Slot and Richard Hughes don’t manage to bring in another attacker before the window slams shut, they’ll be rather light up front, especially when AFCON comes around.

However, even though Newcastle’s stance on the situation has been firm throughout, it feels like something could be about to change.

Newcastle are looking at two or three strikers to bring in this summer

One of the main reasons that Newcastle have been reluctant to sell Isak is that they haven’t managed to source a replacement for the Sweden international.

The striker is one of the best in the Premier League, so no matter who gets brought in, they’ll likely be a downgrade.

However, if they can find someone who’s just a little bit worse, it could force them to sell.

The tides seem to have turned at St James’ Park over the last couple of days, as a new report from Craig Hope outlines that Eddie Howe’s men may actually be willing to sell Isak before the deadline strikes.

Newcastle and Liverpool must come to an agreement for Alexander Isak

Although it isn’t black and white that Newcastle will sell this summer, the fact that they’re looking at two or three different options to replace him says all that fans need to know.

Isak has been the Reds’ number one target since the summer transfer window first opened, and now we’re entering the final days of the window, some big steps forward will need to be made.

If Newcastle can find at least two strikers to come in and help provide some support up front, then the whole situation can be turned on its head.

With the way that things have panned out thus far, it’s clear what both Liverpool and Isak want to happen.

And, if an agreement can be reached between the two, Alan Shearer believes it would make Slot’s men impossible to stop.

Of course, these are all ifs, buts and maybes at the moment, but for now, it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
