It has been a long summer for Denmark veteran Christian Eriksen.
The experienced midfielder left Manchester United after three years, having won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup under former manager Erik ten Hag.
Eriksen was one of three United players whose contracts expired at the end of a turbulent 2024/25 season. The Denmark international, who will be hoping to play in the World Cup next summer, has yet to find a new club as a free agent.
Newly promoted Championship outfit Wrexham approached to sign Eriksen, but nothing materialised as manager Phil Parkinson admitted there was a call between the two parties to discuss a potential transfer.
Still, Eriksen is without a club, and concerns are growing about his future in the game.

Christian Eriksen is in an unfortunate situation
Despite having the entire summer to search for a club, Eriksen remains a free agent.
The 33-year-old made 35 appearances for United last season, but his next move will inevitably be a step down – granted he secures a transfer.
National team manager Brian Riemer faces a dilemma when he names his Denmark squad for the September round of fixtures, as it would be deemed controversial to select a player who isn’t playing regularly or someone without a club.

Right now, Eriksen fits into both categories.
Ekstra Bladet has done an exclusive interview with Riemer to discuss his plans for the national team in the coming months.
When asked about Eriksen, Riemer said: “It is an unfortunate situation that Christian has ended up in.
“But it is clear that it is no secret that the fact that he has not played and has missed the start, and is now without a club less than two weeks before the meeting (next national team gathering), is a big challenge.
“I would be a complete idiot if I said it wasn’t a problem. Of course it’s a big challenge on all fronts.”
Riemer isn’t the only figure in Denmark worried about Eriksen since Thomas Gravesen previously expressed concern at the midfielder’s situation.
Eriksen has been a mainstay in the Denmark team throughout his career, but he has never encountered this problem before, where he can’t find a new club.
The iconic Dane previously played for Tottenham, Inter Milan, and Brentford.
Denmark will take on Scotland and Greece in September as they push for qualification for next year’s World Cup in the United States.
Eriksen not alone in search of new club
Another player struggling to find a new club after leaving United is Victor Lindelof.
Like Eriksen, the Sweden international’s contract at United expired at the end of the season.
Some important national team players are still without a club with just 2 weeks until the September international window kicks off:

🇨🇲 Vincent Aboubakar
🇨🇼 Joshua Brenet
🇩🇰 Christian Eriksen
🇨🇩 Chancel Mbemba
🇵🇱 Paweł Dawidowicz

Lindelof had fallen down the pecking order at United in recent years following the recruitment of several defenders, including Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, and Ayden Heaven.
The Swede has been linked with a return to Benfica this summer, but nothing has materialised on that front.
