Noah Okafor hands Leeds United big pre-Arsenal boost with Saturday morning update

Leeds United look set to have a fresh face in the squad away to Arsenal today in Noah Okafor.

United’s trip down to Arsenal this weekend represents the closest thing to a free hit for Daniel Farke, knowing the quality of opposition on display under Mikel Arteta.

A win on matchday one gives Leeds a springboard to be competitive for survival this season, though.

A £17.25million addition from the Italian giants, Okafor comes in as a significant reinforcement to Leeds’ winger options, while having versatility to play up front as well.

His sharp pre-season performances, including a strong display in Dublin against Leeds, means he’s raring to go this evening and looks set to be involved.

Farke spoke about the left-winger during his pre-match press conference and noted Okafor’s sharpness from pre-season standing him in good stead for involvement today.

“Yes, it’s at least possible because he was involved with AC Milan in the whole pre-season,” Farke said, per the YEP.

*“He has also featured last season for several minutes, so that means he doesn’t need three or four weeks to build up to a game. Let’s see how the next two days will be and we’ll take a late decision with him, but it’s at least possible.*“

As is standard amongst the Leeds squad, he’s posted a matchday graphic on his Instagram story, strongly suggesting his involvement in some capacity at the Emirates:

Noah Okafor a brilliant addition to Leeds United’s squad and hopefully an impact sub today

It would be unreasonable to expect Okafor to start this evening after so little time with his new teammates, but a role off the bench could be ideal.

His pace and skill out wide would be a real threat for us on the counter in the second half if we’re still digging in for a result.

If his pre-season is anything to go by, Leeds have added a serious goal threat to their wide options and Okafor looks a guaranteed starter once he’s up to speed.
