How Arsenal Have Lined Up Recently
At Old Trafford, Mikel Arteta lined his team up in a 4-3-3 formation, with David Raya starting in goal, Jurriën Timber and Riccardo Calafiori starting in the full-back positions. The dependable centre-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães was also present.
Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice were in midfield alongside Martin Ødegaard. In the wide areas, it was Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, with summer signing Viktor Gyökeres starting in attack.
Arsenal Injuries and Absentees to Consider
In the pre-match press conference on August 22 at the Sobha Realty Training Centre, Mikel Arteta was asked for the latest injury news, including Kai Havertz:
“Well, he’s certainly not fit for this match, unfortunately,” he said. “We don’t really know yet the extent of it, I think we need a bit more time and some more tests, and after that we will have more clarity about the next steps.
“I prefer not to talk about the specifics, but he’s not fit, as I said, and we need to explore that issue a little bit further and decide what we’re going to do.
“The worst scenario is that he cannot play tomorrow, I would love to have him fresh and available, bringing what he brings to the team but unfortunately, that is not going to be possible.”
Arteta also provided updates on the availability of Ben White, Christian Norgaard, Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Jesus.
