Luis Diaz scored and assisted twice on his Bundesliga debut against a club in the discussion for Harvey Elliott‘s signature this summer.
Diaz made his £65 million switch to Bayern Munich at the end of July and has already had a taste of silverware with his new club after winning the DFL-Supercup, their equivalent of the Community Shield.
He played the full 90 minutes on that occasion and again as the reigning German champions started their new Bundesliga campaign on Friday against RB Leipzig.
Diaz, starting on the left wing, recorded the second-highest rating from FotMob of 9.3-out-of-10 after scoring and twice assisting on his debut, only Harry Kane’s hat-trick saw him score higher (9.7).
The Colombian netted the second goal of Bayern’s 6-0 win, with a powerful strike from the middle of the penalty box after a crafty flick back from Serge Gnabry.
It was a demolition job from Bayern, with Diaz going on to twice set up Kane in the second half with deft touches into the path of the former Tottenham striker.
Get Football News Germany named Diaz as their Man of the Match, stating that he “offers something that Bayern have been missing,” and “has already staked a claim for goal of the season.”
The rout, which included a brace from Michael Olise, was an early statement from Vincent Kompany’s side against a club who are seeking to re-establish themselves as a domestic challenger.
Elliott ‘already agreed personal terms’

Leipzig are among the sides working towards an agreement for Elliott this summer, with Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reporting earlier this week that they have agreed personal terms with the player.
This Is Anfield understands Leipzig made contact with Liverpool at the beginning of August as they seek a replacement for the Chelsea-bound Xavi Simons.

Chelsea have yet to formalise the transfer of Simons, but Leipzig is seen as the leading club in the hunt for the 22-year-old’s signature, with West Ham, Brighton and Tottenham previously credited with interest.
Elliott has readily underlined his willingness to stay at Anfield, but his desire for regular minutes is a serious consideration at this juncture of his career, with that not available under Arne Slot.
Liverpool are still in need of attacking depth, however, and their plans for the final nine days of the transfer window could yet dictate Elliott’s immediate future.
