Durant is entering the final year of his current contract, worth around $54.7 million. For now, however, both sides have not come to an agreement on a new deal, but his future with the team might be sealed.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Rockets and Durant have had discussions about a new contract and there is belief they will come to terms.

Windhorst also noted that Durant, just like LeBron James, is no longer viewed as the centerpiece of a franchise, as Houston builds around a young core of players it acquired through the draft.

Durant, who turns 37 in September, is still one of the league’s top offensive players.

Last season with the Phoenix Suns, he averaged 27.9 points on 53/42/88 shooting splits. He also averaged 6 rebounds and 4.2 assists while playing around 36 minutes per game.
