Forest set for first away match

Reds face Palace on Sunday

Forest Preview has all the pre-match info you’ll need

Nottingham Forest travel to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon in the Reds’ first away Premier League fixture of the 2025/26 season.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s charges got off to the perfect start last weekend when Chris Wood’s brace and summer arrival Dan Ndoye’s first goal in Garibaldi set Forest on the way to three points on the opening weekend of the season.

Our three new arrivals this week, Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee and Arnaud Kalimuendo, are all eligible to make their Forest debuts this weekend in South London.

The Eagles picked up a point on opening weekend after drawing 0-0 with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after Eberechi Eze’s goal was ruled out.

Borna Sosa and Walter Benítez have been the summer arrivals at Selhurst Park so far this summer.

Selhurst Park - Crystal Palace v Forest - 2024/25

Crystal Palace are embarking on their 13th campaign back in the Premier League since returning to the competition in 2013.

Last season, the Eagles won the first trophy in their 119-year history when Eberechi Eze’s solitary strike was enough to secure a 1-0 win in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley in May.

Following on from that historic day, Oliver Glasner’s side went on to win the Community Shield before this season began with a 3-2 penalty shoot-out win against Liverpool under the Wembley arch after a 2-2 draw between the sides after 90 minutes.

At the time of writing, only Rob Holding and Jeffrey Schlupp have been the senior departures from Selhurst Park, with the aforementioned Borna Sosa and Walter Benítez the summer additions.

Adlene Guedioura Forest.jpg

Adlène Guedioura enjoyed three spells at Nottingham Forest during his career, one on loan in 2012, before two permanent stints at the City Ground in 2012/13 and 2018/19.

The former Algeria international made more appearances in Garibaldi than any other side during his 20-year career, amassing a total of 100 appearances for Forest, scoring six times and providing six assists during that time.

Guedioura was a constant in the side during his final season on Trentside, making 28 appearances across all competitions and chipping in with two goals and two assists.

After his first loan and permanent spell at the City Ground, Guedioura joined Crystal Palace in 2013, making 19 appearances for the Eagles with a single assist coming in that time.

His second season at Selhurst Park was largely spent on loan with Watford, before the move was made permanent in September 2015.

Man in the middle

Anthony Taylor has been selected as the referee for Forest’s trip to Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The FIFA official took charge of three fixtures involving the Reds last season and three Eagles matches including their FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa.

Taylor’s first match of the current campaign came at Anfield in the first match of the season as Liverpool welcomed AFC Bournemouth to Merseyside.

He also oversaw the UEFA Champions League qualifying match between FC Basel and FC Copenhagen earlier this week.

Assisting Taylor in South London will be Gary Beswick and Adam Nunn. Sam Barrott is the fourth official while Paul Tierney is on VAR duty. Paul Howard is the assistant VAR.
