Five things to know ahead of Man United's clash with Fulham

Manchester United face Fulham at Craven Cottage in their second fixture of the new Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.

Read on as we look at five things to know ahead of the fixture.

Marco Silva’s poor record against Man United

Manager Marco Silva has fared poorly against Man United since assuming the reins at Fulham, losing six and winning once in Premier League meetings against them. His only victory came at Old Trafford last season.

His only home victory against United was in the 2018/19 season when he beat them 4-0 as Everton manager.

Man United’s success at Craven Cottage

Craven Cottage is one of United’s best hunting grounds in the Premier League era. They have won each of their last eight trips to the London-based stadium – their longest winning streak at a particular away ground.

Fernandes & Cunha enjoy playing against Fulham

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes has scored five goals in 10 games against the west London club, making Fulham one of his favourite opponents. Only against Aston Villa (seven), Everton, Leeds United, and Leicester City (six goals apiece) has he scored more.

Likewise, forward Matheus Cunha has an impressive goal record against Silva’s side, scoring three goals in four games. Only against Chelsea and Swiss side FC Thun (four) has he scored more in his career.

Fulham’s resilience

The Cottagers trailed by a goal for most of their Premier League opener against Brighton & Hove Albion, but Rodrigo Muniz’s last-gasp goal prevented them from losing.

That resilience against Brighton comes as no surprise, as they accrued 21 points from losing positions last term – the second-best record in the division.

Biggest Premier League scoreline

The biggest scoreline in this fixture came on the opening day of the 2006/07 campaign when United won, 5-1, with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo being on the scoresheet.

Fulham’s biggest win over United was a 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage in December 2009.
