“Scandalous!” - Jamie Redknapp destroys West Ham duo live on air after Chelsea defeat, worse…

Jamie Redknapp has slammed Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo for ‘scandalous defending’ following West Ham’s heavy 5-1 home defeat to Chelsea.

The Hammers continued their winless start to the Premier League season with a humiliating loss on Friday, as Graham Potter’s side conceded all five goals from crosses or corners.

Despite taking the lead inside six minutes through Lucas Paqueta, West Ham collapsed and trailed 5-1 after 58 minutes, with five different goalscorers on the scoresheet for the visitors, who were missing Cole Palmer.

While new goalkeeper Mads Hermansen took heavy criticism after the full-time whistle, Redknapp also singled out Wan-Bissaka and Todibo’s defensive efforts, claiming the duo delivered a ‘masterclass in how not to defend’ in the first half.

Redknapp, speaking on Sky Sports, slammed Wan-Bissaka and Todibo for ‘scandalous’ defending after West Ham’s heavy 5-1 defeat to Chelsea:

“Wan-Bissaka and Todibo, in this first half, have done a masterclass in how not to defend the area or your back posts. It’s scandalous defending.”

West Ham were booed down the tunnel at full-time following a dire display at the London Stadium, with Potter taking responsibility for the defeat and admitting he ‘has to do better’.

A second consecutive loss has put the former Chelsea and Brighton boss under increased scrutiny, with reports claiming West Ham owner David Sullivan is already considering parting ways with him.

After losing 3-0 at Sunderland last weekend, West Ham have now conceded eight goals in their opening two games of a top-flight campaign for the first time ever.

Potter, who replaced Julen Lopetegui as manager in January, has won just five of his 21 games in charge and is the first West Ham manager in Premier League history to fail to reach 10 points from his first 10 home matches, collecting only nine.

He also holds the worst points-per-game record of any West Ham manager in history, averaging just 0.95 points from his first 21 games.

West Ham next face a trip to Nottingham Forest before successive London derbies against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
