Key questions ahead of Fulham vs Man Utd– goalkeeper dilemma, biggest threat, head-to-head record

Manchester United travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim is hoping his Manchester United side can bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend.

United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal in their first game of the 2025/26 campaign, but the performance at Old Trafford was encouraging enough to keep United fans optimistic about the season ahead.

Fulham, on the other hand, started their new season with a 1-1 draw against Brighton. That means they are also looking for their first win of the campaign.

Here are three key questions ahead of Fulham vs United.

Which goalkeeper does Ruben Amorim start?

Andre Onana missed the entirety of pre-season with a hamstring injury and spent the summer recovering. The Cameroon international was overlooked for Altay Bayindir when Arsenal came to Old Trafford, although the Turkish back-up keeper committed a howler that cost United the game.

Amorim revealed that Onana is available for selection, like he was a week ago, but the United head coach risks shattering Bayindir’s confidence if he takes him out of the line-up.

That said, Bayindir has not done enough to take the first-choice role from Onana. It’s time for the former Inter Milan stopper to return between the sticks.

Who is Fulham’s biggest threat?

Fulham have several players who can hurt United when they’re playing at their best.

Rodrigo Muniz will be Marco Silva’s biggest goal threat this season, after scoring a crucial equaliser against Brighton last weekend.

Other notable attacking players include Fulham’s top scorer last season, Raul Jimenez, as well as Emile Smith Rowe, Andreas Pereira and Alex Iwobi.

How did Man Utd perform against Fulham last season?

United faced Arsenal twice in 2024/25, winning on both occasions.

The first meeting took place at Old Trafford as United started the season with a 1-0 win, thanks to debutant Joshua Zirkzee.
