Xabi Alonso gives fresh Rodrygo update amid Arsenal and Man City links, 'of course...'

Xabi Alonso has spoken out about Rodrygo Goes amid transfer speculation linking him to Arsenal and Manchester City.

Rodrygo has been linked with both Arsenal and Manchester City, as TBR Football revealed, but the Brazilian has not yet made a decision on his future.

Since Xabi Alonso took over at Real Madrid, Rodrygo has fallen down the pecking order and may now be seeking a move to the Premier League.

Although nothing is confirmed, Alonso addressed the situation in his recent press conference.

Xabi Alonso speaks out on Rodrygo

Alonso spoke on Rodrygo: “For me, the season is just starting. The Club World Cup had a different context.”

“Did I speak with Rodrygo? Yes, of course, like I do with all my players.”

Elusive, and more so inconclusive.

Rodrygo has played just 93 minutes for Real Madrid since Alonso took over, so he’s definitely one to watch before the window closes.

Not only does Alonso not seem to be a fan of Rodrygo, but his former manager, Carlo Ancelotti, also looks unlikely to call him up for Brazil’s internationals in September.

TBR Football revealed that Arsenal could look to sanction a loan move for Rodrygo, while Manchester City should not be ruled out of the race.

Would Rodrygo choose Arsenal or Manchester City?

It’s difficult to say. After Arsenal landed Eberechi Eze, there may be limited room in the starting XI for the Brazilian.

That said, depth – and more importantly, quality – is vital when competing for the Premier League title.

As for Manchester City, they are going through a rebuild, but they already have a plethora of attacking talent – something Rodrygo could still add to.

As previously mentioned, this is certainly one to watch in the dying days of the window. Will Rodrygo make the move to the Premier League?
