**PITTSBURGH --**The Pittsburgh Steelers, like all other 31 teams in the NFL, will have to dwindle their 91-man roster down to a 53-man roster by 4 p.m. on Tue sday. Pittsburgh has carried 91 players for the entire preseason and training camp, and they have evaluated those players to get to this point.
Pittsburgh has already started making their moves after the conclusion of their preseason game on Thursday. They have some tools at their disposal to attack roster-building, too.
For one, they can designate two players to return from injured reserve immediately, and those players will not have to be on the initial 53-man roster. The same goes for suspended players and those going on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.
Some candidates that could land on injured reserve include Cory Trice, Calvin Anderson, and Will Howard, who have nursed issues during the preseason.
After Friday’s first wave of cuts, the Steelers have 80 players on the roster and will need to make 27 more cuts. They can add 17 players to the practice squad with the international exemption for outside linebacker Julius Welschof.
