Everton have reportedly been in touch with Villarreal to discuss a deal for forward Karl Etta Eyong.
The 21-year-old scored in Villarreal's 2025-26 La Liga opener against Real Oviedo last time out, and there is currently a host of speculation surrounding his future.
The release clause in the striker's contract with the Yellow Submarine, which runs until June 2027, is believed to be just €5m (£4.3m).
Barcelona are said to be interested in signing the attacker, with the Catalan outfit then potentially loaning him to Real Betis for the 2025-26 campaign.
However, according to El Chiringuito TV, Everton have been in touch with Villarreal to discuss a potential move for the striker before the summer transfer window closes for business.
The report claims that Etta Eyong is keen to remain at Villarreal, but he would be open to making the move to the Premier League if the right opportunity arrived.

Besiktas 'make approach' for Leicester's Faes
Meanwhile, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City centre-back Wout Faes is wanted by Turkish giants Besiktas before the end of this summer's transfer window.
The 27-year-old made the move to Leicester from Reims in 2022, and he has represented the Foxes on 122 occasions in all competitions, scoring six goals and registering three assists.
Last season, the Belgian made 37 appearances in all competitions, including 34 outings in the Premier League.
Faes has already featured three times for Leicester this term, coming off the bench against Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End.
However, there is speculation surrounding Faes' future, and Besiktas are allegedly working to sign before this summer's transfer window closes for business.

Ipswich 'make offer' for Club America's Caceres
Elsewhere, Ipswich Town have allegedly made an offer for Club America defender Sebastian Caceres.
The 26-year-old is believed to be the subject of interest from a number of clubs late in the transfer window.
Spartak Moscow are thought to have recently failed with an offer for the Uruguay international, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ipswich have now placed a bid on the table.
Caceres has made 173 appearances for his current side in all competitions, scoring four times in the process, and he could leave Club America in the near future.
“Doors are open at the club for players who want to leave, no one is indispensable,” Club America president Santiago Banos told ESPN Mexico. “The player who is not comfortable has the doors open.
“We are not going to give them away because it is not a question of weakening us, but as long as there is an agreement between the club, the club that buys and agreement with both parties, we will carry out a negotiation.
"For Caceres, there was an offer, but not within the parameters we expect for a player who has been here for a long time. Until they close the transfer windows in different parts of the world we can’t confirm [whether there will be] any more exits or ins.”
Club America are believed to want a fee in the region of £7.5m for the defender.
